The first chapter ‘Maran Kommer’ is a direct re-creation of my repeating nightmare and how it felt. An example of what it can look/feel like when too strong feelings of fear, endless hopelessness and imagination mix at a young age. After the first chapter, we get to follow a person in an unclear age and future where life has lost its meaning and revolves around escaping the nightmare that has taken hold in his everyday life. A depiction of what life can be like on the threshold of reality, a threshold that is slowly starting to wither. Throughout the project, there are many references to my background and the relationship with my parents. Much is symbolic and perhaps too personal for outsiders, but I think at the same time many can recognize the feeling of growing up with night terrors. In the same manner as children's books from the 80s/90s, the book comes with a cassette tape containing music associated with each chapter, that you also hear through out the film. But The Nightmares Glade is about what happens when the bedtime story is over, when your home becomes dark and you close your eyes.
